How to multiply binomials

How to multiply binomials is perhaps one of the more difficult concept in the field of algebra. But when breaking this type of multiplication down into two steps, binomial multiplication becomes more clear. But first, let’s start with the basics.
The Basics
A binomial is an algebraic expression of the sum or the difference of two terms. For example:
(x + 3) or
(x + 2)
Binomial multiplication is the mathematical method of how to multiply these binomials. Using the two binomials introduced above we write binomial multiplication as follows:
(x + 3)(x + 2)
To know where we’re heading I am giving you the final answer already yet:
x² + 5x + 6
The Distributive Method
There are several methods of how to multiply binomials. Here we discuss the “Distributive Method“. This method is the most universal method and it applies even to all polynomial multiplications, not just to binomials. In other words, the distributive method really useful stuff…..

Childhood cancer is a serious and largely overlooked decease. More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease—in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined. If born today, about 1 in 300 boys and 1 in 333 girls will have cancer. Because these facts are shocking TutorZ wants to make a difference by supporting the St. Baldrick’s foundation and pave a better future for our children.

I’m 27. I do not think about the past and do not regret it too much. But sometimes I would like to have learned a little more of other things. Things I have learned over the past years. It would be great to have self-development lessons in courses at school..

But I still think it would be nice to highlight a few hours of all these activities on some German lessons in self-development. Perhaps only one hour a week in high school. This could be useful for many students and on a larger scale for our whole society.

So here are 10 things that I would have liked to learn more about in school (or just known about).

1) Rule 80-20 or the Pareto principle.

80 % of all income received bring only 20% of your activities. From this we can conclude that much of what we do doesn’t really bear income and therefore is not necessary. So many things you do,might not so useful, or even not as important as it might have seemed to be.

You can just throw engaged – or severely cut back on the time you spend on a huge variety of activities. And if you do, you will have more time and energy on what really brings results, happiness, satisfaction, and so on.

Numeracy in the mind – it’s not a talent, and not a gift. It is simply knowledge of some mathematical tricks. Now you will have additional knowledge that will help you use your mental abilities a bit more efficiently.

5 more Math tricks to Amaze your tutor

Trick #1 Tip counting.
If you need to leave a 15% tip, there is a simple way to do it. Calculate 10% (divide by 10), and then add the resulting number to its half and get the answer:
15%  оf  $25 = (10% оf 25) + ((10% оf 25) / 2)
$2.50 + $1.25 = $3.75

Stanford the University, the Town, The Tourist site?

Why write about Stanford, California. I was thinking of places I’ve never been in California and Stanford went through my mind, and I decided to take a look at the city of Stanford, not the University of Stanford. Well, as it turns out there is no city of Stanford; rather it is an unincorporated area of Santa Clara County adjacent to the city of Palo Alto. Stanford has its own post office and two zip codes, one for buildings on campus and another for post office boxes. It even has its own shopping center and medical center along with a very nice residential neighborhood.

Good teaching is more a giving of right questions than a giving of right answers.

-Good teaching is more a giving of right questions than a giving of right answers. – Josef Albers

This quote is about importance of critical thinking. It would be better, if tutors not only ask students for the right answer, but give them the right question, which will open their way to get the answers.

Critical thinking is just not being developed, because tutors always supply student with “right” theory and answers. Nothing logical, nothing to analyze, nothing to think hard of and train student’s brain.

2014 April 1st Fool`s Day Pranks

April 1st 2014 is April Fool’s day. If your friend ask for your help with harvesting picking freshly-grown spaghetti from his yard be weary … and perhaps smile. Read on to find more famous pranks and our announcement that an medieval capital was found in the sea.

April 1st Fool’s day is celebrated differently around the world. In the UK pranksters shout “April fool!” at the recipient, who becomes the “April fool”.
In France and French-speaking Canada people love to attach a paper fish to the victim’s back without being noticed. This is called poisson d’avril or “April’s fish”.
On April 1st we Americans often hear incredible stories in the news media. For example on April 1st, 2004 Burger King announced a new item on their menu: the “Left-Handed Wopper”. It had “all condiments rotated by 180 degrees”.

March 17 is Saint Patrick`s Day

Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-wannabes across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.
The historic figure St. Patrick was born in England circa 385 AD. St. Patrick was captured by pirates as a child and brought to Ireland. During his enslavement, he was called to Christianity and escaped his captors after six years. He returned to Ireland as a missionary, and in his teachings, combined Irish pagan beliefs with Christian sacrament, devising the Celtic Cross. He is annually honored on March 17.
In Ireland St. Patrick’s day is somewhat of a national holiday. But also in our country this day plays a bigger and bigger role as unofficial national holiday celebrating the Irish and Irish American culture. In Chatham County, Georgia . Patrick’s Day has already become an official holiday.
Look out the window on to the street. Don’t you see a lot of green today? Skyscrapers in Dallas, Texas are light in green neon light. The fountain water of in front of the White House’s yard has been dyed green. What else can you recognize to be green today?

Gauss` Summation 1+2+3 Anecdote

Summation, adding up of sequences, sigma summation operator – these terms send shivers down the spine of many algebra students. Surprisingly, these are also the tools of one of the most comical and math-morale boosting anecdotes in the history mathematics.

The German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777 – 1855) was a genius even in childhood. He attended primary school in Brunswick (Braunschweig) in the Duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbütte in Germany. At the age of 10 the young Gauss was admitted to the algebra class of math teacher J.G. Büttner. To keep the bored and unruly schoolboy Carl Gauss busy for a good long time Büttner gave Gauss the following task: add-up the integers 1 to 100 in arithmetic progression. As Büttner turned back to teaching his class , the young Gauss placed his slate on the table, saying, “There it is!” Büttner looked back at him scornfully. To Büttner it must have been utterly impossible that a boy, even as talented as Gauss, could produce an answer within seconds. But when Büttner finally looked at the results on Gauss’ slate and it was he who probably felt cold shivers going down his spine: On Gauss’ slate was written the correct answer, 5050. No further calculation, such as 1+2+3+4+… was written, just the right answer: 5050. Büttner was utterly astonished and puzzled. He even called his assistant Martin Bartels. They asked the young boy how he possibly can come up with the right answer so quickly.
As Gauss explained, he realized that pairwise addition of terms from opposite ends of the list yielded identical intermediate sums: 1 + 100 = 101, 2 + 99 = 101, 3 + 98 = 101, and so on, for a total sum of 50 × 101 = 5050. In more algebraic terms, Gauss had found the explicit solution to adding up the numerical sequence from 1 to 100. The explicit summation formula looks like this:
By using mathematical induction it can be shown that the sum of all natural numbers n equals the sum of the first (1) and last integer (n) multiplied by half-of-the sequence elements (n/2) which yields the correct answer. It was totally amazing that this 10 year old boy came up with this method in his head within seconds.

Why Gauss’s portrait is shown on German Bundesbank’s ten-Mark banknote?

Turkey’s Culture and Ancient History

When traveling in a foreign country, speaking a few words of its language goes a long way. This is because locals feel appreciated knowing you made an effort to study their native language. I saw this happening when I asked the bus driver to stop and let us off. (Turkish: Otobüsü durdurun Lütfen). Otherwise, we would have to walk a long way back. In another occasion the Turkish-only speaking hostess of a bed & breakfast had already cleaned up when I asked them to reopen the breakfast buffet. (Turkish: Biz kahvaltı alabilir miyim lütfen). So here are a few but important Turkish word:

hello Merhabā (more common) or İyi günler (formal) or Selâm (informal)

good evening İyi akşamlar

City of Angels (and autos)

As far as the private institutes go, I count well over 20 very prestigious institutes  including the University of Southern California (USC) and Loyola Marymount University (LMU) and the list is too long to cover in this blog. Suffice it to say, whether one was interested in MedicalLegalPsychological, or Film, or you name it, the prospects are tremendous here. Not that these types of educational paths are easy, they are not. However Los Angeles also has an enormous resource of private tutors throughout the city including the nation wide TutorZ.com. Not to mention the temperature is almost always 75 degrees  Fahrenheit all the time (I had to throw that in).

Tampa, Florida stands for Phosphates, Tobacco, Sunshine and Education

The city of Tampa, Florida is much more than many people associate with: sunshine, tobacco and hurricanes. Tampa also means phosphate industries, cigar-makers, film, guava fruits and many educational facilities anchored in the fascinating history of Florida.
The modern history of Tampa starts with the Spanish explorer Narváez who landed near present-day Tampa. But the expedition was ill-fated and had to be rescued by the Hernando de Soto party. Ruled by Spain for the most part, the United States purchased Florida from Spain in 1821 in order to eliminate the southern refuge for renegade slaves. In the 1880′s, Tampa became boom town when phosphate was discovered in the Bone Valley Tampa region. Today Tampa’s port still ships millions of tons of phosphate annually; the term “phosphate capital of the world” was coined.

Be Lazy in the Right Way!

Laziness – one of the most interesting phenomenons in the human condition. Although laziness is associated with negative connotation, and is often observed when parents look at their school aged kids, laziness demonstrates has substantial positive benefits.
Laziness actually has a quite positive influence. Psychologist, teachers and even historians belief that laziness has served as one of the contributing factors in the  scientific and technical progress.  For example when the famous English physicist Isaac Newton idled underneath that proverbial apple tree he came up with the concept of gravity.  Similarly, Archimedes relaxed often in bath houses.  This laziness gave rise to the his understanding of the volume of irregularity shaped objects, such as the king’s crown.
